Bello ma.......
Si scia ai piedi del Bianco. Bel panorama soprattutto in alto.

I wouldn't bother !!!! Town is dull ... people are really very rude and slopes average. The food and bars available in the town are shocking. Go somewhere more enjoyable.
Courmayeur is a gem for families and intermediate skiers that value great food and high quality slopes. For experts and off-piste skiers I would recommend to include Chamonix in the skipass to find enough challenges if you are staying for more than 3-4 days. With that said the village is one of the most charming in the alps with gourmet restaurants, exclusive shopping and a pleasant cozy atmosphere.
Great food, Well priced, High quality slope preparation, Exclusive, charming village, Nice people, High service
Limited ski area, old cable car to the top

We visited Courmayeur today (we are based in Cervinia for two weeks and have an Aosta Valley ski pass) in anticipation of crowd free slopes and great food as suggested from the reviews we had read. The slopes were great fun and steep which we and the 3 kids loved but we were massively disappointed by the crowds on the slopes. I was buzzed repeatedly by fast skiers and snowboarders as was my 6 year old. I wasn't impressed with their lack of forethought. We were also looking forward to the food in the slope side restaurants. Again we were disappointed. The portions were served in plastic dishes with plastic cutlery which broke while I was eating. My mushrooms and tagliatelle was horribly slimy and overly salty. I felt like I was eating rubber strands with slimy slugs thrown in...so much for the great food. Luckily my 6 year old and I decided to finish off our day with a hot chocolate from the Christiania restaurant and it was delicious...a real hot chocolate that you can stand your spoon up in! Thank goodness for the steep slopes and the real hot chocolate to brighten up our day!
lots of fun on really steep slopes
crowded slopes and rubbish food

We went to Courmayeur for a week pre-Christmas a few years ago. It is a very interesting small town that supposedly is a destination for the chic / high-fashion set from Milan. The local food is great, and there are a number of interesting (mostly small) on-mountain dining options. Courmayeur has spectacular views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks from nearly every spot on the mountain. There are a number of other small ski areas in the valley, but we did not try any of them. The skiing was good - the mountain is small, but laid out nicely in a way that allows you to follow the sun -- ski the front of the mountain in the morning, the back of the mountain in the afternoon. While the terrain may seem somewhat steep for beginners or early intermediates, it is somewhat benign and I think that advanced skiers looking for a week-long adventure would be bored with Courmayeur after a day. There are a number of guided trips that can be done, including crossing the glacier into Chamonix in France and returning by bus - but when we visited the snow cover was not yet sufficient to do much more than the groomed main area. The small town is a typical European Alpine town, filled with interesting shops and restaurants. Each day at happy hour, the restaurants lay out free appetizers for anyone inside (this is a typical practice in Northern Italy). As usual in Italy, the people are outgoing and very friendly. I would recommend Courmayeur for families or for anyone looking for a fun, relaxing week in the Alps -- but not necessarily for anyone looking for a hardcore ski experience.

Coumayeur is a fairly small resort, with amazing views of Mont Blanc and a great variety of runs. It is suited best for intermediates (red runners) as there are only a couple of Blue Runs and a couple of Black Runs. Everywhere is very friendly and welcoming and when I have been (mid December for the last 3 years) it has always been very quiet... The only couple of downsides are that it is pretty small, so you could ski the whole mountain in 3 or 4 days, and that I personnally like a snow park, although not everyone would so it may not be a negative!! Off-piste is fairly limited as well. Overall, though, a fantastic resort and highly recommended.
Great Views, Fantastic Reds, Wide Runs, Good Variety
Not very big, Could do with a park
