One of Europe's largest glacier skiing areas is open for snow sports from October to July, giving snow security for everyone based within a 50km radius. This includes residents of Innsbruck, who have an inclusive lift pass with ski bus. There's no resort as such, but several villages nearby.

The toughest run is the four kilometre (two-and-as-half mile) Fernau Mauer black run.
