It's Party Time At The Lake

Kicking off with a pyrotechnic display and dance party at Squaw Valley Friday, February 29, the North Lake Tahoe Snow Festival, which began as SnowFest in the early 1980s, brings its annual 10-day winter celebration-cum-block party to the region. Other festivities include: the children-only Paint the Animal event at the Tahoe Arts Center in Tahoe City, the Tahoe City SnowFest Parade and the Gar Wood's Polar Bear Swim in Carnelian Bay, all Saturday, March 1; Sierra Avalanche Center's fund raiser at Homewood Mountain Resort and the Dog Pull at Tahoe City Golf Course Sunday, March 2; Homewood's Groomers Race Monday, March 3; Pete 'n Peter's Bar Game Olympics in Tahoe City Tuesday, March 4; the Science Expo at the Tahoe Center for the Environmental Sciences in Incline Village Wednesday, March 5; a Sierra Avalanche Center fund raiser at Sugar Bowl and a winter dodgeball tournament in Kings Beach Friday, March 7; the pancake breakfast and community parade in Kings Beach Saturday, March 8, and Snow Festival's culminating event, the 18th annual River Ranch Snow Sculpture Contest, March 9.
