If you are smart about when to go, Liberty is a great place to take the family to learn. The learn to ski slopes are open if the resort is open and are always excellent to learn on. Avoid the times when there is new snow in DC or Baltimore. Pick a warm day, or if you are lucky, a weekend before Christmas because they make a lot of snow. The instructor are great and will take as long as you need! My sister-in-law quit and was found hiding in the bathroom, but the ski school staff and her 2 boys were able to talk her into a giving it another try. Super instructor had her up and having fun before dinner. They did not make any money on that lesson, but I could tell the staff just wanted her and her boys to have a good time. I enjoyed the “expert” areas while my family got lessons. The terain park was mostly easy but that matched my low ability. New skiers can practiced all day but not in the way of people on the back of the mountain. Hints: Get a hotel if you are coming a long distance. Get on the mountain at 8am on weekends for better parking and because Liberty’s guest services are up and running. Take your time in the rentals, getting food and drink, using the bathrooms and be in the first lesson or first lift to the back side. Get a 4 hour flex ticket if you are a snob or can not ski nice in a crowd. By 11am you are to late to begin a day at Liberty. Anyone who is a brand new skier should get the learn to ski package with the add on full day return later in the season, really the best deal on the east. My rating numbers are for a family of mixed level.

Overall, I would rate this resort a 4.5 and let me tell you why. For starters, for how small the resort is, the staff here works so hard on improvements and pleasing the "whiners"! I've been coming here for awhile and love the people who know how to have FUN! This isn't Vail, Tahoe, Stratton, or any other "EXPERTS ONLY" show me your $, "I HATE SNOWBOARDERS" resort. This resort is a haven for locals, families, and people who don"t get a chance to travel to "BIG" resorts.
Like many other small mountain resorts, Liberty does offer top of the line equipment, great ticket specials, and a staff that is top notch! It doesn't matter what resort you go to, there is always something for people to complain about. If you hate small resorts, then don't bother coming here and complaining about snowblowers, snowboarders, and the snow! That is what you are here for isn't it! Enjoy the mountain!

Very family friendly. Beginner runs are excellent. Plenty of staff for lessons. Daycare services are priced reasonably and the kids stay happy. As far as the rest of the mountain is concerned...... Lifts are slow. Snow blowing equipment is right under them. Slow lifts + snow blowing and wind = drenched and miserable. It's even worse if the lift stops for some reason. Next, the run dippsy doodle has a portion of the run that is virtually horizontal and on warmer days, the best skiers will find themselves pushing with poles. Liberty needs to grade the mountain during the summer to eliminate this. Next item..... price. Compare Liberty's lift ticket price to any resort in the west. Liberty is on the high end. Staff at the ticket window stated that the price is high due to the snow making facilities. If you are going to ski at Liberty, go during mid week. The combination of limited skiing terrain and nearby big cities make weekends overwhelming in lift lines and the small food court facilities. Overall, pricey and icey.
We had a great day at Liberty this past Sunday. The conditions were great, the liftees were friendly and the lift lines were short or non-existent. Amazing for a sunny Sunday in February.
It was fun to watch the ski race on the backside and then the big air competition from the lift and to watch the wipeouts in the other terrain park at the same time!

We go to Liberty every other weekend with our whole family. My daughters and friends have been taking lessons all season. We have found the Staff and the instructors to be some of the best in the business. B ecause of the instructors, my daughter has really taken to the sport.
Liberty is in a tough spot for really good natural snow, yet they always seem to do the best with the least. We ski at many other resorts, but Ski Liberty staff really makes this place special.
We will be there tomorrow.

Liberty isnt that bad. it closest mtn since Im from Calif n Im only here for skool. the price is lil pricy and staffs is okay. The lift need to be more faster cyz it really slow and my grandma can get to the top than the lift itself. It need alot improve and some things to work on.
Liberty is an ok resort. First with the positives its a great place to go if you are a beginner there staff and customer service is great. Since I am not a beginner this mountain isn't very good. The lifts are painfully slow and all the expert slopes face south so it gets hit with direct sunlight all day long then when night fall hits and its gets cold they get so icy and thats not fun. Great for beginners or if your a local but if not I'd check somewhere else out. If you are looking to go somewhere around this area, I would check out Whitetail or Ski Roundtop

Liberty was a fun and playful environment, however they need to update some parts. For example, they need to get slightly faster lifts, and add a little bit more of hard terrain. But, the hotel and community is around 8 out of 10, with the nicest faculty and staff. Great Mountain for learners.

Ski Liberty is a basic resort, that offers skiing close to the D.C. and Baltimore Metropolitan areas. The prices are reasonable, but be sure to only go here on weekdays, as weekends are incredibly busy. The slopes are okay, with two sides of the mountain to choose from.

Ski Liberty is close to Washington D.C. and Baltimore, and it does have some good points. The Flex Lift Ticket is a great idea, that more resorts need to consider, instead of sticking to "traditional times". They have a nice dining area to sit in, and to watch the slopes, and the staff seems to be quite friendly.
The slopes are okay, but there is nothing special here. The best thrills can be found on the Vertigo Slope, which is located off of the lifts midstation on the lodge side of the mountain. Its quite a fast ride. Beginners will appreicate how those areas are tucked away in a safe area to the left.
The lifts are painfully slow. They need to improve on this, as well as stopping groups of snowboarders from standing around, and blocking the slopes. Costs are a bit more than some smaller resorts, but in line with pricing found across the industry.
