Bio:
Skiing has affected every aspect of my life. My first venture was to start a ski club at my Jr. High School. Soon after I was dining at home with Warren Miller, friend of my parents before he MC'ed his movie at our high school ski team fundraiser. Broke my neck in my senior year of high school, led me into coaching. Joined USSCA at 19, coached college for 8 years, USSA for 8, four years with the US Speed Skiing Team. Head coach for the 1992 Olympics. Chief of Course for the 2002 ski and snowboard events at Park City for the SLC Winter Games. FIS Technical Delegate since 1996, has led to opportunities to ski all over North America, Chile, Argentina. I thank the sport and the people who have confidence in me for the opportunities.
Best day skiing? Elbow to elbow with my son Ketchum in knee deep powder this past Winter at Willamette Pass. The place I took my first turns in 1958.
What a life.
To my dear comrade of the sport Gene Landsmann. You taught me many things...humility and graciousness are the two things I still strive to emulate my friend. Miss you everytime I put on my ski boots, or head into the mountains seeking "wistas."
