The Freiburg region is marked by the stark contrasts of the landscape. While the cantons Jura and Neuenburg, as well as the Bernese Jura, just as the name indicates, are located in the Jura, the Canton Freiburg Mittelland is a part of the foothills of the Alps.
The Jura is famous for a flourishing clock and watch industry next to the scenic elements – plateau, fir forest and farm houses made of light lime stone. The shores of the Neuenburger See offer a breathtaking panoramic view on the Alps from the Säntis to the Mont Blanc. The Canton Freiburg is well known for the beautiful landscape of the Alp’s foothills as well as for the historic cities Murten and Freiburg.
