Beginner area is nice. Short to no lift lines throughout the day (Sunday). We liked the layout of the place. Most runs end at the lodge, so everyone was able to meet up through out the day. The runs that we went on (only green and blue) were enjoyable, with a good amount of variety. The staff was friendly and helpful, everyone in our group had great interactions with the employees and instructors.
Value, trails, lodge.
No dedicated pro shop.

Thirty yrs ago taught our sons how to ski at coffee mill. Later brought our daughters-in-law to learn to board and ski. This year our infant grandchildren enjoyed the homey family area (carpet, sofas, etc) while the adults traded off ski/boarding time. Though we enjoy our mountain ski trips, Coffee Mill will always be our "go to" for local skiing. Senior rates are Awesome. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It's old, not fancy, but has the basics needed for a day of family-friendly skiing.
Good value. Excellent for new skiers and seniors
All runs rarely open at the same time

this was the first place I ever strapped on a board, I feel the runs are a little steep for beginner riders and they are very short runs. but all in all it is better than nothing

We had a great time at Coffee Mill! We definitely picked a good day to ski it between two waves of bitter cold that the Midwest had this winter. The skiing was really good with fun terrain off both lifts. O Chute was nice and steep along with Fall Line. They also had some of the best views for any ski areas in this region (not as good as Mt. La Crosse, though) with the Mississippi River and a few rock formations to look at on the sides of the bluff. The lodge is also pretty neat because it is a big octagon and is mostly open inside. The lift tickets reflected the value; not too expensive, not too cheap. We didn't understand why their only all natural snow trail, Kitty Walk, is just that: a flat cat track.
Retro feel, good terrain, scenery
Lifts that are slower than normal

When compared to other local places, Coffee is definitely the underdog. Obviously it has less terrain, but what terrain it does have is fun, and can even be challenging. There are long cruiser runs, and legit steeps. The resort itself is unpretentious, and classic. It's not Afton or Welch. Think more like Red Lodge vs. Aspen. The lifts are original, slow, and have no cushioning. There's no fancy Apres Ski, but the bar it does have is tiny and fun. The staff are locals, and real. So have a beer in the parking lot, and enjoy one of the best kept secrets around.
Easy access, Low key, Good terrain, Cool bar, Rustic
Pricey lift tickets, Flat at top and bottom, Dated lifts

Run by non profit for love of community. Bowl shape protects you from the wind. The chalet is an octangular reused airplane hangar. You'll love it!
Big hill, low price, no lines
90 minutes from Metro
