Smugglers' Notch has some of the best terrain I've ever skied and its family friendly. There's great trails like Doc Dempsey's, Smugglers' Alley, Snake Bite, Chilcoot, and Rumrunner, but what really makes Smuggs special is that there's something for everyone in the group. Off mountain options, lots of restaurants, and friendly staff are just some of the things that earn it a reputation as America's family resort. The lodging was really good and pretty convenient, but we got a lot of letters pressuring us to buy timeshares (seems they really want money). The scenery here is absolutely beautiful. There's nothing else like looking at the view from the top of the Madonna I lift. There are, however, some outdated aspects of Smugglers' Notch. They still only have double chairs, and the snowmaking seemed limited compared to other mountains nearby. Also, most mountains are always adding new stuff, but Smuggs doesn't do that much. The lift lines also got really bad in the middle of the day. Overall, Smuggs is a great resort for families, but I think it's a better resort for skiers who love great terrain and can cope with the outdated stuff.
