Snow Reporter Comments

Good morning Attitash skiers and riders. Live free and ski, is the mantra for all our guests here during the NH February Vacation week. Folks were loving being out there yesterday as we had to break out the sun glasses and the sunscreen. The theme song for Wednesday was “Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.” The late great John Denver had it right for sure. A Gorgeous sunny day, combined with clean, crisp mountain air and fantabulous snow conditions had everyone singing out loud, go ahead now, join in, “Sunshine in the mountains… makes me happy.” We enjoyed a beautiful day on Wednesday and although it looks to be mostly cloudy Thursday, with any luck we may get a peek at the sun too. The forecast gets better, partly sunny and chilly tomorrow; and for the weekend, a blue bird winter day for Saturday. Then Sunday night more snow may be on the way. Yahoo! Make plans to be here, we hope to see you on the slopes at Attitash!

Attitash is scheduled to operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with 6 lifts providing access to 66 trails across 307 acres and 22.4 miles for skiing/riding. 59 trails have been machine groomed overnight. Conditions will begin as thoroughly groomed packed powder with fresh morning corduroy. Conditions on the ungroomed terrain will be variable with a mix of packed powder, powder and some firm areas under the snow. The all natural surfaces are holding up nicely, it’s looking good on Wilfred's Gawm, Tim’s Trauma and the bumps on Grandstand. Still finding fresh, soft, powdery untracked lines in the treeskiing areas of Bear Peak. Use caution out there as there may be hidden hazards under the snow. Be prepared to adapt to changing conditions as the day progresses. What a spectacular winter season it has been in ski country; and it is certainly worth repeating, thank you to Old Man Winter for a job well done!

Please note; Spillway will be closed Thursday and Friday for the build out of the Skier / Boarder X course for Saturday’s big event.

Thursday's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, it will be cold with temps in the single digits starting the day and reaching a high temperature of only 16 degrees with a light wind. Wednesday, folks were able to shed the ski mask but be sure to pack it, as you will need it again today. Bundle up, layer up and you will be comfortable out there today. Looks like several beautiful winter days are in the forecast, Friday and Saturday could be cold but with plenty of sun to close out Fabulous February 2015. Believe it or not, March may start with another significant snow event on Sunday night into Monday. We can hear the Lion’s roar. This never ending stretch of winter weather has been spectacular and it is expected to continue. Our squeaky dry snow is flourishing in these consistently cold conditions and every bit of natural snow that comes our way will only make it better!
