The place is fantastic! The wife and I are downhill converts to XC. We like the maintained trails, low-cost and friendly ski hut environment. It is beautiful terrain, all with out the downhill crowds and downhill lines. Keep up the good work at Enchanted Forest. T&K
We live in Texas and try to make at least one visit a year to nearby Taos. Our dog ALWAYS goes with us, and we make it a point to visit Enchanted Forest each time for some snowshoeing with her along. It's a beautiful place and all the trails are just phenomenal... we always leave there tired and happy! The picture is of her on the trail.
I live in Albuquerque and make the trip up 2-3 times a year for the snow shoeing. The terrain is beautiful, and it seems that I never fail to encounter elk or deer (I go EARLY).
We've been going there every year for the past five or six years, and we absolutely love it, it is our special "yearly doggie vacation", the designated dog friendly area is so much fun, and their "humans only" trails are wonderful too. We are currently living in Denver, CO, and still make it a point to visit. We can't wait until they open this season!!!!
I have snowshoed in Colorado, Utah, California, Alaska, and many other states, as well as in Europe. No other place compares to the beauty of the Enchanted Forest trails. It is my all-time favorite place to snowshoe!!!! Though I am not a Nordic or skate-skier, those trails are equally incredible and well-maintained. --Laurie Lambert, 2007 U.S. National Snowshoe Team, Bronze Medalist, 2007 World Championships
Enchanted Forest is one of those "out of the way" places that must be explored. The skiing is fantastic and the trails are some of the most unique and beautiful anywhere. It is very commonplace to see wildlife of all sorts: mule deer, elk, bobcats (it is on Bobcat Pass =), ptarmigan, coyotes, picas, squirrels, etc. It is a very active place for forest creatures. XC skiing in New Mexico seems like an oxymoron, but there is great snow and great conditions at Enchanted Forest. The Millers have done an extraordinary job in providing a most unique xc skiing and/or snowshoeing experience that is right in line with everything else New Mexican. There is an wonderfully intangible character to the place that must be experienced to understand.
