The process of learning to ski or ride can be expensive. With the cost of rentals, lessons and transportation it quickly adds up and can be a bit off-putting for beginners. Shawnee Mountain is encouraging newcomers to stick with it by offering huge savings on multi-visit lesson programs during January.

Shawnee's affordable community program is perfect for school groups, rec departments, clubs and families interested in pursuing snowsports and not going broke. The program is designed around five weekly visits on either Saturday or Sunday, running from Jan. 7 to Feb. 26. This consectutive structure keeps skills fresh and will help make the learning process more successful from start to finish.

Plus, Shawnee will throw in a sixth trip for FREE if booked by Dec. 27.

So how much does this really save? Look at it this way.

Six retail lift tickets would cost $330. Six community lift tickets cost $130. That saves of $200 off lift ticket rates.

Add lessons to the mix for just $50. That's less than $10 per lesson. Lift tickets are valid from 2-9 p.m. Lessons run for one hour starting at 3:45 p.m. Rentals can be included for an additional cost. Minimum age for ski lessons is 7; for snowboard lessons is 8.
