Skieur Magazine and Alpe d'Huez have teamed up to host a 2012-13 ski testing week March 31 to April 7. A range of the latest gear from top brands will be available every day and focus is on all-mountain skis/snowboards.

During this week, participants will receive a pass, snack and supervision along with access to the new gear and performance track. Register early as the number of places for each session are limited. To register, either call the tourist office (+33(0)476-11-44-44) or email s.difoggia@alpedhuez.com. The price of each session depends on the day.

It's not just the ski testing that is sure to draw the crowds. Alpe d'Huez is packing its spring season full of fun. European Gay Ski Week returns March 24-31. More than 1,000 people expected at no less than 50 events in the reosrt - apres-ski, DJ nights, cabaret shows, and a pool party to name a few - are spread through out the week. European Gay Ski Week is the winter's biggest European gay and lesbian festival. New for 2012: most accommodation and events are situated in the heart of the resort which for this occasion will become the biggest high altitude gay village in Europe.

Other spring ski events in Alpe d'Huez include the Crystals of The Oisans race for 4-11-year-olds March 25; Grooming Machine Driver Championships April 4-5; the Mundialito football tournament April 7-8; the Comic Book Festival April 13-15; and the Sarenne Snow Bike event April 21, which is an untimed mountain biking race setting off from the peaks and down the 16 kilometres of pistes with a 2,000-metre vertical.
