Lutsen Mountains, the Heartland's largest ski resort, will be celebrating College Week Jan. 3-10. It will be a week of music, movies, parties, and activities geared towards college-age students. Get ready to ski, ride, and party. You choose the order.
The weekend of Jan. 7-9 is Lutsen's famed Snowball with live music taking place every night. There will be three nights of music with eight live bands culminating with Wookiefoot on Saturday night. This is jammin' Minnesota style. It's a Northwood's cruise. Other live bands include Pert Near Sandstone, Trampled by Turtles, The Limns, The Historic, God Johnson, Jon Wayne, and Heatbox.
The concerts, featuring local and national acts, take place in the resort's renowned Papa Charlie's Nightclub, which Minneapolis newspapers have described as "the hottest nightclub venue north of the Twin Cities." It's big enough to host a good sized crowd, and when the music gets hot, the place rocks. In a land better known for wood smoke, flannel shirts and moose, Papa Charlie's adds some nice spice to weekend ski trips in Minnesota's Arrowhead.
A special lodging, lift, and concert package, which starts from $196 per person, based on quad occupancy, includes three nights lodging, three-day lift ticket, and concerts every night. The nice thing is that Snowball guests are grouped together to minimize late night revelers arriving back at the hotel. That's a nice touch for them, and the rest of the guests who may be planning on an early day on the slopes. Party on.
