It's been a great white week for Europe: the long-awaited snowfall brought up to a metre of powder in 48 hours.

So we head into the weekend on a very positive note with dozens of ski resorts opening Saturday and reporting excellent snow conditions.

Here's our round-up of where to find the best snow conditions in Europe this weekend . . . 

Best snow conditions:

France: Val Thorens (100cm/130cm), Tignes (80cm/140cm), Val d'Isere (80cm/140cm), La Plagne (80cm/120cm), Avoriaz (50cm/80cm), Alpe d'Huez (45cm/85cm), Chamonix (0cm/100cm), Courchevel (40cm/70cm), Les Arcs (30cm/70cm), Serre Chevalier (10cm/120cm), Les Deux Alpes (10cm/100cm), Les Menuires (30cm/80cm), Meribel 30cm/80cm), Megeve (20cm/50cm), Flaine (25cm/50cm), Isola 2000 (20cm/40cm), Risoul (20cm/80cm) and Montgenevre (10cm/50cm).

Austria: St. Anton (25cm/125cm), Lech-zuers (55cm/70cm), Obertauern (55cm/75cm), Solden (15cm/130cm), Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis (30cm/60cm), Schladming (30cm/60cm), Saalbach (30cm/60cm), Obergurgl (30cm/105cm), Kaprun (20cm/100cm), Ischgl (20cm/50cm) and Axamer Lizum (10cm/40cm).

Switzerland: Samnaun (60cm/40cm), Andermatt (110cm/30cm), Gstaad (20cm/125cm), Arosa (30cm/50cm), Crans Montana (25cm/40cm), Davos (20cm/40cm), Engelberg (0cm/70cm), Flims/Laax (25cm/75cm), Lenzerheide (30cm/45cm), Les Diablerets (30cm/125cm), Saas-Fee (15cm/211cm), St. Moritz (20cm/70cm), Zermatt (20cm/160cm) and Verbier (15cm/70cm).

Italy: Alagna (0cm/160cm), Cervinia (25cm/160cm), Val Senales (30cm/70cm), Cesana (30cm/60cm), Sauze d'Oulx (30cm/60cm), Sestriere (30cm/60cm), Claviere (30cm/60cm), Bormio (10cm/50cm) and Courmayeur (20cm/40cm).

Scotland: Glencoe (15cm/40cm), Cairngorm (10cm/25cm), Glenshee (10cm/15cm), Nevis Range (15cm/40cm) and The Lecht (10cm/20cm). All Scottish ski areas remain closed.

Spain/Andorra: Sierra Nevada (20cm/100cm) is the only Spanish resort with snow. In Andorra all resorts remain closed but there is some snow: Arinsal (0cm/40cm), Pal-Arinsal (0cm/15cm), Pas de la Casa (0cm/35cm) and Soldeu (0cm/10cm).
