Winter X Games returns to Aspen for the tenth consecutive year this month. Whether you're planning to attend action sports' premier event or you're just planning to take it in from the couch, we've got you covered. Over the past several weeks we have given you the lowdown via the OnTheSnow Winter X Games Guide. Check out Part One, Part Two and Part Three. Here's the fourth and final installment on the first day of the games...
Mike Douglas, "The Godfather of Freeskiing," has been at the forefront of the freestyle movement since its inception and remains one of the most influential and respected personalities on snow. The former Canadian National Freestyle Team member and coach moved to Whistler in the late 80’s and with his friends J.P. Auclair, Vincent Dorion, Shane Szocs and J.F. Cusson, formed the New Canadian Air Force.
By paving the way for skiers in the park and conceptualizing the first twin tip ski, Douglas helped change the sport forever. He currently lives in Whistler and runs Switchback Entertainment, his production company.
A member of ESPN's Winter X Games telecast since 2001, Douglas has seen it all. He was generous enough to share his predictions for this week’s skiing events in Aspen. Ladies and Gentlemen, place your wagers.
