The Bretton Woods Nordic Center offers 100 kilometers of cross country ski trails nestled against the southwestern side of Mt. Washington, New England's highest peak. The center's 45 trails wind over 1,770 acres of open fields and woods.
Most of the trails are tracked or groomed, for classical or skate skiing, and offer visitors a civilized taste of the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Bretton Woods Nordic Center is a full-service operation, located near the historic Omni Mount Washington Hotel. The center offers instruction, rentals, sales, ski repair, waxing rooms, lockers, The Grille, and TreeTop Nordic Shop.
The center operates 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its trails are weighted toward intermediate level (45 percent), with 34 percent novice and 21 percent expert.
Trail fees are $17 for adults, $14 for resort guests; $14 for teens, $11 for resort guests; $10 for juniors 5 to 12 and seniors, $7 for resort guests. Season passes are $159 for adults, $139 for teens, and $119 for juniors and seniors.
A single chairlift ride up the Bethlehem Express Quad, to the top of the 5-mile-long Mountain Road Trail, is $10. Trail ticket also is required. Nordic skiers must be on the lift by 2:30 p.m. to allow time to return by dark.
