The Cowboy Heaven Cabins at Moonlight Basin stand a cut above ordinary ski cabins. They offer a way to gain the Montana feel of a private cabin, but with the comforts of luxury.

The quiet four-star rated log cabins sprinkle around the hillside above the Moonlight Lodge with ski trails winding between them for accessing the lifts. Many require only stepping off their decks to click into bindings.

The spacious cabins come in two styles. Two-bedroom cabins, which sleep six people, begin at $285 per night. A two-bedroom cabin with a loft starts at $335 per night and can sleep eight people.

Each of the cabins offers a private deck with hot tub, large living room, fully equipped kitchen, DVD, cable television, and gas fireplace. The cozy cowboy décor, far above the hayseed rusticity of real Montana cowboys, lends the cabins their name. Some cabins allow sleepers to wake up to views that face the precipitous north flank of Lone Peak, while others tuck under a frosty forest of firs.

A five-minute drive or two-minute ski leads to Moonlight Lodge, which houses a restaurant serving three meals per day and fine dining in the evening. The lodge houses the spa, pool, and hot tube in addition to serving as the 24-hour check-in for the cabins.

Lift tickets are not included in the rates above, but packages that include lift tickets for skiing or riding at Moonlight Basin can be added to lodging in Cowboy Heaven Cabins. Combination lift tickets for Moonlight and Big Sky are available in lodging packages, too.
