British snowboarder Ben Kilner has taken third place at the Calgary World Cup halfpipe, just ahead of the Olympic Winter Games.

This is the first time in Kilner's career that he's reached the podium, coming third after France's Arthur Longo and Canadian Justin Lamoureux, and he's set to complete at the Winter Olympics later this month.

Kilner, from Banchory in Scotland, wrote on his Web site: "This has put me in a very good frame of mind going into Vancouver and has been my best result so far in my snowboarding career."

Kilner, selected in the halfpipe for Team GB alongside Lesley Mckenna in the women's event, is currently ranked 16th in the world.

The men's Olympic halfpipe competition takes place at the Cypress Mountain resort, to the north of Vancouver, Feb. 17.

The final British names for Team GB going to the Vancouver Winter Olympics were announced Jan. 29. The British Olympic Association said: "Team GB is now complete with 52 athletes selected. Some of them are already in Canada, many are leaving in the next few days but all go with a mission to achieve their personal best. This is the biggest team we've sent to an Olympic Winter Games since Albertville in 1992, and we are ready to take on the world."
