NEWS UPDATE: American skier Bode Miller wins the gold in Super Combined Slalom Sunday. Miller finished 0.33 seconds ahead of Ivica Kostelic of Croatia, and 0.4 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Silvan Zurbriggen. It is Miller's first Olympic gold medal.
Saturday was a great day for European athletes at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Austrian Andrea Fischbacher won gold in women’s Super-G, two Swedish athletes stood on the podium for medals in 30k cross country pursuit, and Switzerland’s Simon Ammahn won gold in Large Hill Ski Jumping.
American Lindsey Vonn, considered the best woman ski racer in the world, finished third in Super-G.
Fischbacher won the Super-G with a time of 1:20.14. Tina Maze of Slovenia won the silver, and Vonn won bronze. Maze finished 0.49 seconds behind Fischbacher, and Vonn finished 0.25 seconds behind Maze.
Ammahn won gold in the men’s large hill ski jumping. Adam Malysz of Poland won silver, and Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria won bronze.
Sweden's Marcus Hellner won gold in Men’s 30k Pursuit Cross Country. Tobias Angerer of Germany won the silver, and Johan Olsson of Sweden won bronze.
Skiing and snowboarding medal events scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21 are: Men's 15k Mass Start Biathlon; Men's Super Combined Slalom; Women's 12.5k Mass Start Biathlon; Men's Ski Cross Freestyle.
