Where . . . Jever Skihalle Neuss, Germany
What . . . The Jever Skihalle Neuss is Germany's first indoor ski slope and is open 365 days a year. Good snow conditions are maintained with a constant temperature of -4 degrees Celsius. A quad chairlift and draglift takes skiers up to the top of the slope (300 metres long, 60 metres wide). A children's ski slope is accessed by a magic carpet lift. All three lifts have a combined capacity of around 5000 people per hour.
There is a funpark for snowboarders and freeskiers with a changing set of elements each month to add variety, such as rails, boxes, and kickers.
The ski school has more than 300 qualified ski and snowboard instructors and is the largest state-certified school in Germany.
The ski area is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Non-Skiing Activities . . . Sledding on the toboggan run, indoor rock climbing, and the outdoor Climbing Park. The Snowshop offers all styles and sizes of gear to rent.
Food/Shops . . . A selection of seven bars and restaurants, from a pub beer garden to Tyrolean restaurant, and a late-night cocktail bar.
Prices . . . An hour's ski pass costs €16 adults and €12 children (Mon-Fri) or €19 adults and €15 children at the weekends. An hour's sledding on the toboggan run costs from €12 adults and €8 children.
