Where . . . Chill Factore, Manchester, UK
What . . . Chill Factore is home to the UK's longest, and the world's widest, real snow indoor ski slope: 180 metres long and 100 metres wide at the bottom.
To use the Chill Factore main slope all users must be able to control speed and direction, link turns, stop, and use the button lift unassisted.
Chill Facotre offers taster sessions for beginners take place on the 40-metre beginner slope. A wide variety of lessons are also available, both private tuition or group sessions, for those wanting to learn parallel turns, carving, moguls, telemark, rider development for snowboarders, and freestyle sessions with ramps and rails for both skiers and riders.
The main slopes is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. 365 days a year.
Non-skiing Activities . . . The 12-metre-high climbing wall offers a challenge for all levels. Tubing and luging are also available along with a snowplay area for those aged 2-10.
Food/Shops . . . Alpine Village offers a good choice of bars, cafes, and restaurants with views over the slopes. The Street is an authentic wood and stone indoor mountain village lined with outdoor clothing shops and ski outlets.
Price . . . Adults £15-20 p/h; junior/student £11-15 p/h; and family £22-30 p/h. You can ski up to four hours, the price drops the longer you ski. Either bring your own adequate clothing or hire jacket and trousers, supplied by Dare 2b, for a charge of £5 per person.
