Where . . . Bassingbourn Snowsports Centre, Royston, Hertfordshire
What . . . The main slope is 100 metres long with a maximum gradient of 20 degrees and a button lift. The training slope is 45 metres long with a 16-degree gradient and a rope tow. Both slopes are floodlit for use in the winter months.
Instructors cater for all levels of ability, from complete beginners through to racers and freestylers. Choose from taster lessons, skiing courses, private lessons, and group lessons.
There's a large club house with equipment and comfortable seating. A shop sells hot and cold drinks and snacks.
The centre is available for open practice October to April: Wednesdays (8-10 p.m.), Thursdays (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), and Sundays (9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.); May to July: Wednesdays (8-10 p.m.) and Sundays (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
