You work full-time, entertain the family and have one or two days a week to ski. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to plunk down more than $1,000 for a full season ski pass. You won't get to that golden '31st day' to make the pass worth it. But you still ski more than two weeks a year, so what do you do? Now, more than ever, Utahns have options.
Silver Card: Buy it before Sept. 29 for $99 ($199 after) and get transferable lift tickets for $45/day all season. That means you (and your friends) start saving money after about the fifth visit. The Gold Card ($99 before 9/29) is non-transferable but gets you $40/day, direct-to-lift access; no having to show your card at a ticket window. Walk-up 2011 rates are $69.
An Alta season pass costs $999 until Sept. 30 and then jumps to $1,199. New this year, however, is the Young Adult Pass for skiers 18-25 years old. $599.
Brighton has a new 10 Day Powder Pack Promo for $420. Unused tickets expire at end of 2010/11 but they are fully transferable to friends and family so you shouldn't have a problem using them up. Weekday Unlimited Adult (Silver) Pass is $485 - go nine times and you start saving money. The unlimited day and night pass is $849 ($949 after Sept. 15). The night-only adult pass is $319.
Snowbird has "Season Ticket Plans" that get you on the hill for as little as $49/day. Buy anywhere from 10 to 40+ days. What you don't use rolls over to next season. Unlimited tram and chairs pass is $999 before Sept. 15, $1,099 after.
Solitude's Custom Season Pass allows you to pick your favorite ski day. One weekday is $279 for the season. To get Saturdays and Sundays add $379 and $229, respectively. Skiers can add extra days of the week for $89. The Perfect 10 passes for $399 are valid any day and do not roll over. But they are transferable. If you want to use two passes in one day (to ski with a buddy) you will need to pay $25 extra and 'split' the 10 pack into two 5s.Season pass prices start at $1,099 and increase Nov. 1.
PCMR's Utah Locals 5-Day Pass will go up on Oct. 31 so buy now if you want it for $270 ($54/day). But if you're planning to ski 10 days, better get the 10-day Direct-To-Lift Pass for the same price ($54/day) because these tickets rollover and come with Fast Tracks access. A full season pass costs between $699 and $1299 depending on whether you want Fast Tracks and night skiing.
A full season pass at Canyons] will be $1,299 after Oct. 15, 2010. But don't be discouraged. The Cherry Picker 5-day pass is $219 before Oct. 15 ($279 after); the Locals eCoupon comes out to $51/day if you purchase a 10 pack before Oct. 15. The unused dollar amount rolls over to next season.
Ski Deer Valley for as little as $51/day when you purchase a mid-week 10-coupon book ($510). Any day 10-packs are $580 each. The Locals Coupon Books also come with two buddy passes so you can ski together. They pay the same daily rate you got when you purchased your Book. Then, if the Buddy digs his day, he can purchase his own Locals Book for the same price you did back before Nov. 30. Season passes start at $1,630 before Oct. 31 and jump to $1,910 after.
The DTL (direct-to-lift) card at Snowbasin links to your credit card so you're charged as soon as you're scanned at a lift. It costs an initial $35 to save $12 on every adult lift ticket. You must purchase before Dec. 12, 2010. New this year is a 10-pack book for $500. Any unused days carry over to next season. A full season pass is $975 until October 3 and $1100 after.
Adult season pass prices at Powder Mountain increase in batches. The first 250 went for $640 in July. The next 250 went up to $750. Currently, passes are $825. Eventually, prices will settle at $875. The Powder Mountain family pass (two adults, 2 kids to age 12) will increase from $1,860 the same way. Utah residents can ski mid-week for just $46 by showing a local ID. You don't ever need to pre-purchase a coupon book.

Passes at Beaver Mountain] resort in Logan Canyon started at $270 if you bought in the spring. They're now up to $445 through Sept. 15. They will ultimately increase to $515.
The adult unlimited pass (which includes night skiing) at Sundance is $429 before Oct. 31, $529 after. The adult midweek pass currently runs for $250 and goes up in November to $350.
Save money and find a friend to ski with you this season. The Brian Head Buddy Pass (two adult passes) is $839. A single adult is $479. The Freedom/Corporate pass is fully transferable and costs $859. Prices increase after Nov. 2.
$665 (no deadline date) gets you two adults and two childrens passes for the season at Wolf Creek. An individual pass is $280.
