Families with small children planning a ski holiday in France can look for the label "Famille Plus." This certification guarantees quality services geared specifically to families and their little ones.

The Association of Mayors of Mountain Resorts-Ski France (ANMSM) and two other tourism-based organisations created the label in 2006-2007 with the support of France's tourism minister. Today, 40 ski resorts in France have been labelled "Famille Plus."

The label is based on six principals: a personalized welcome for families, activities adapted for all ages, various prices according to the child's age, activities for younger and older children to do together or separately, shops and services within easy reach, and the presence of professionals specialized in child care and education.

Each resort that wishes to obtain the "Famille Plus" label must submit an application. Once the application is accepted, inspectors go on site to ensure that the label's criteria are followed. The resort then earns the right to label itself "Famille Plus" for three years, after which it must renew its application and undergo inspection again.

This label helps families easily identify the destinations that offer special services for parents with children of all ages. The "Famille Plus" qualification exists for four categories: Mountain, Sea, Nature, and City. In all, 80 places in France are certified family destinations.
