Early-season skiers heading to the French Alps can take stop off at one of the used ski sales along the way.

Many towns in and around the French Alps hold what's called a "bourse aux skis" throughout October and November, where people can drop off their used ski and snowboard materials for a collective winter sports jumble sale.

Here is a list of used ski sales being organised in various places around France:

Villeurbanne (near Lyon) Oct. 8. at the INSA La Rotonde, on the Doua campus

Bourgoin-Jallieu (between Grenoble and Lyon) Oct. 9-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bourgoin-Jallieu ski club office.

Ventron Oct. 15 at the Ventron Salle des Fêtes

Cran Gevrier (near Annecy) Nov. 6-7 at the Cran Mosignes room, beneath the Cran Gevrier church. The sale is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday.

Ambérieu en Bugey Nov. 6 at cycling club office from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Gérardmer Nov. 13-14 at l'Espace Lac (times not specified).

Thann Nov. 20-21 at the main building of the Cercle Saint Thiebaut (times not specified).
