Australian ski fields enjoy record snowfalls

Perisher Blue records over 215cms of snow fallen since the start of this season a month ago and the official snow depth reading passed 135centimetres this week making it the best reading for this early in the season in seventeen years. Skiers and boarders have been enjoying fresh dry powder daily in the past week with more to come. 83cms of snow has fallen on Perisher Blue in the past week with 49 of the resorts 50 lifts now in operation. Across the range, all fourteen of Thredbo resort's lifts are also in operation while further south in Victoria Mt Hotham has over 125centimetres and Falls Creek has also passed the metre mark. Hotham and Falls have all areas open including their terrain parks while Mt Buller has 23 out of 25 lifts operating. Forecasts show isolated snow showers for the rest of the week meaning fresh lines for all.
