Ready to celebrate Mardi Gras in the frozen tundra of Minnesota's Arrowhead? Carnivale is coming to Lutsen Mountains March 5.
Who says you need to head to New Orleans to savor the spirit and flavor of a good "old fashioned" Mardi Gras. Grab the beads and don't forget the long underwear as you head north to the Heartland's largest ski resort along the frozen shores of Lake Superior.
Room rates start as low as $99 per person, based on quad occupancy, for two nights and two days, or spend two nights and enjoy a third night of lodging and an extra day of skiing and riding free with the resort's 3for2 Weekends.
Lutsen Resort, right on the lakeshore below the mountain, is promoting March weekends at midweek rates. It is separate from the ski resort. Follow the link below for more information.
Get ready for a rocking good time. It's time to celebrate Mardi Gras Arrowhead style. There will be plenty of Creole food and drink specials and, of course, a bead contest and costume ball. It wouldn't be Mardi Gras without them.
The Jack Brass Band, Minneapolis' only New Orleans style brass band, will be laying down a bluesy grove at Papa Charlie's Nightclub Saturday night. It's a mix of New Orleans jazz, blues, rock, hip-hop, funk, and reggae. It that doesn't make you get up and dance you might as well head to bed with a warm glass of milk. Come dressed for the Masquerade Ball or grab a mask at Papa's. Everyone gets three strands of beads and will have the chance to earn more with games, contests, and trading. The most beads win a prize.
The skiing and riding have been fantastic since the beginning of the year.
