Spring finally starts to arrive along Minnesota's Arrowhead by the end of March, and Lutsen Mountains is planning to celebrate the arrival Saturday, March 26. Located along the shores of Lake Superior, North America's fresh water sea, spring is slow to arrive this far north, and it gets a little crazy when it does.
Room rates start as low as $99 per person, based on quad occupancy, for two nights and two days, or spend two nights and enjoy a third night of lodging and an extra day of skiing and riding free with the resort's 3for2 Weekends.
The Family Spring Break Package includes a three night stay, lift tickets, ski rental, and lessons.
Lutsen Resort, on the lakeshore below the mountain, is promoting March weekends at midweek rates. It is separate from the ski resort. Follow the link below for more information.
Spring Carnival features costume contests, family fun races with great prizes, fireworks, and lots of live entertainment. The weekend theme is a giant deck party. Grab your beach gear, crazy costumes, ski and riding gear and head north to Lutsen. All events are free and open to the public.
Saturday will be a giant deck party starting the day off in the Summit Chalet with the heartiest beach party north of South Beach. Show up in your bathing suit and ski boots, or maybe a grass skirt. The Family Fun Race/Obstacle Course takes place that afternoon on Upper Bull Run, and a costume contest follows the race. There was a reason for that grass skirt.
A torchlight parade and fireworks, best seen from Papa Charlie's, takes place at dusk followed by the fourth Annual Beach Party Bash. You can dance the night away with festivities, including Hawaiian shirt, bikini, and limbo contests, great music, great drink specials, and a tiki bar. What a great way to wind down the season, but don't put the snow sports equipment away just yet. Lutsen always remains open until mid-April.
