With 14 inches falling over the holiday weekend, Taos threw open more lifts and terrain from top to bottom on both sides of the mountain—2,612 feet of vertical. As of December 27, all of the resort's lifts will be cranked up and running full time. For those looking for off piste thrills, Juarez along with Chair 2 steeps is open for limited periods when ski patrol deems it safe. In case you beat yourself up skiing, you can pamper sore muscles with a $200 traditional Balinese massage at the rebuilt luxury Edelweiss Lodge and Spa—which replaced the historic slopeside Edelweiss hotel as the first new lodging in Taos in 11 years. If the new spa is beyond budget, just head to the Martini Tree Bar for a beer.
