Blue Hills Opens

Snow guns roared as Ski Campgaw Management LLC readied the trails at Blue Hills for the projected Dec. 20 opening. Campgaw bid for a permit to run the area at state-owned Blue Hills Reservation, and won. GM Corie Stone said her crews installed a new 300-foot magic carpet, tuned up the grooming machines, installed a new floor in the base lodge kitchen, painted, and put down new carpet. Campgaw's permit is for five years; the company has agreed to make skiing accessible to urban youth, and to put $100,000 a year into upkeep.
