Bridger Adds Lift, Expands Terrain

Bridger Bowl plans to open new Schlasman Chairlift this winter. Bridger Bowl plans to open new Schlasman Chairlift this winter.

Bridger's new lift, a double reconditioned Doppelmayr from Snowbird Ski Resort, adds 311 acres of new lift-served terrain for experts. "There will be no grooming, marked trails, or roads from the top of this lift," notes Bridger's Doug Wales. Skiers will be required to carry an avalanche transceiver to access this lift; ski partners and shovels are optional, but highly recommended.

The lift rises 1,700 vertical feet - 400 feet more than Bridger Lift - and stretches to within 100 feet of Bridger's famed upper ridgeline. The 8,700-foot-high upper lift terminal will provide hike and ski access to the ridge as well as Mundy's Bowl to the south of the lift. Experienced backcountry skiers will also have the option of exiting the ski area into the backcountry at designated gates along the ridge.
