Fire inspectors halted work on the lodge while the gravel road accessing Fortress was closed due to public safety concerns with structural damage to the bridge over the Kananaskis River and runoff erosion on at least one of 12 corners. Concerns over misleading consumers through inaccurate advertising led to an order to stop selling season passes. President Zrinko Amerl is forging ahead with repairs to the bridge and road with plans to open two lifts - Curve T-bar and Farside - as soon as the road passes safety inspections. Even without a lodge, Amerl says, "We can just do what we've done in previous years which is to open the ski hill without the lodge and then have the portable bathroom facilities and tents where people can warm up."
