It's Snow Showtime In The Bay Area

Information, fun, and prizes make the ski show a must attend. Information, fun, and prizes make the ski show a must attend.

'Tis the season...for ski shows.

Northern California's largest annual winter expo, the Bay Area Ski & Snowboard Show, will take place Nov. 14-16 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose.

The 13th annual presentation, a one-stop shopping experience for everything winter-oriented, features the usual booths and exhibits with the latest gear from manufacturers and the latest poop from winter mountain resorts.

There also will be other distractions, including a $2 million equipment sale, a mini-film fest, a teaching ramp manned by instructors from Heavenly resort, a $2 million gear and clothing sale, a climbing wall, and the ever-popular tire-chain installing contest.

You also will have the chance to win a heli-ski trip to Valdez, Alaska, or a Sierra backcountry adventure tour with the Tahoe City-based Pacific Crest Snowcats.

Tickets are $15 for adults - there's a $3 discount if you purchase them at Any Mountain stores - and $3 for children 6-11.  You will receive a voucher good for a highly restricted lift ticket for Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, or Sierra Summit, with the purchase of an adult admission.

Show hours are 3-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Details are available at the Bay Area Snow Show Web site.
