Grandvalira has enhanced its ski area in time for winter 2008-09 to include new ski zones, more snow cannons, and a new ski school.

Granvalira is introducing two new ski zones on the Cortals and Cortalets slopes of Grandvalira-Encamp along with 14 new snow cannons. The championship slope of Grandvalira-Soldeu Avet also has been upgraded.

Beginners will benefit from a new ski school, new nursery area, and two new exclusive zones at Grandvalira-Encamp and at Grandvalira-Grau Roig along with new lifts. Competitive skiers can enjoy the new Time Trial, which is a timed slope on Grandvalira-El Tarter for just €1.

There are plenty of new additions for non-skiers too. The resort is introducing two new open-air skating rinks in Grandvalira-Grau Roig and Grandvalira-Pas de la Casa. Visitors can enjoy the new Grandvalira-Soldeu snowmobile circuit or take panoramic touring trails in a ‘piste-basher' cabin at Grandvalira-El Tarter and at Grandvalira-Porte des Neiges.

The new freestyle ski pass provides access to all the snow parks of Grandvalira as well as a restricted area of slopes. The day ski pass costs €32 and the season pass costs €370.

There are also new additions to the après ski scene with two new ice bars at the foot of the Pla de les Pedres and the Grandvalira-Pas de la Casa slopes.
