Resorts in this article: Arapahoe Basin Ski Area
Blame it on the laid-back attitude or backcountry-ish feel, but 15 percent of Arapahoe Basin's guests are Teleskiers.
Considered one of the best Teleskiing mountains in Colorado, A-Basin is one of the few areas to offer a full menu of Telemark lessons and clinics. You won't go wrong with A-Basin's professional Telemark instructors if you've ever considered learning this sport . There's the $55 Tele Days for regulars. They start Nov. 25 and run through May 10. Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, all ability levels can discover the Tele craze for $55. Sessions are 9:55 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 1:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
Kids will love to "free their heels" too. This special program Dec. 13 creates the perfect learning environment for children eight and older to have a blast learning to Telemark. Specially trained instructors guide kids into discovering a whole new world on snow. Your child must be an accomplished intermediate alpine skier and provide their own equipment to participate in a first-time Tele lesson. The resort doesn't rent Tele gear. The class starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. Price is $60.
Women can get in the game as well Dec. 14. A-Basin's specialized female instructors emphasize specific Tele techniques just for women. Time: 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.. Price is also $60. Other clinics will be offered throughout the season for both men and women.
