A new ski area has opened in Montgenevre: the ‘Serre Thibaud Telemix' adds a further 10 kilometres of new runs to the resort. The Serre Thibaud Telemix connects the Tremplin and Chalvet sectors.
The Telemix has replaced the existing cable car and feeds three runs (one black, one red, and one blue). Montgenevre is one of the first French ski resorts to be equipped with this state-of-the-art lift which allows chairs and gondolas on the same lift system. Another improvement on the slopes includes brand new snowmaking facilities added to the five-kilometre blue run of Le Resevoir.
Off the slopes, visitors will also notice changes. A new ESF ski kindergarden offers day care for children aged two and above. There's a new gourmet restaurant called La Table Blanche in the Hotel Chalet Blanc. This family-run eatery offers sophisticated French cuisine.
There is also a new accommodation - ‘Residence MMV - Le Hameau des Airelles' has opened up directly at the bottom of the slopes, near the Chalvet cable car. This accommodation is comprised of 122 apartments and features a large lounge with fireplace, spa with hot tub, hammam, sauna, swimming pool, and jet showers.
2009 will be the year of light In Montgenèvre. The resort will shine with thousands of new designer lights throughout the season and, in February, Montgenevre will set the mountain itself ablaze with its first Fireworks Festival.
