Smooth video is hard to get. Add in the component of skiing and it’s nearly impossible. Enter the Glidecam HD 4000, a “prosumer” steadycam perfect for video enthusiasts to get steady shots no matter if they are skiing, running or walking up a flight of stairs. The device works by balancing the weight of the camera with multiple gyros keeping the camera level. We've been shooting with one for the past six months and even though we're still getting the hang of it on skis, it’s easy to see why Hollywood always shoots with one. The system is light and easy to set up and while it does take some getting used to, the adjustable counter weights and camera placement mean you'll always have the perfect fit for whatever you shoot.
This isn't something most people will buy, but if you've got a slider and pocket jib then it's the next logical step if your goal is to make a killer ski film (and you want to look cool doing it).
