Talk to any seasoned photographer and they will tell you skiing with a pack full of camera gear is like skiing with a small child on their back. The trick is to get a pack that fits well with heavy weight and can stand up to the elements. We shot all last season with the DAKINE Sequence 33L photo pack and can't say enough about how great it is. The pack has great weight distribution, easy access for camera gear and two side straps for tripods. The large front pocket fits a 15-inch laptop and the side pockets and top pocket are perfect for batteries and other accessories you might need quick access to. The only thing we didn't like was the pack is actually two packs—so every time you open it from the back you go through two layers to get to the main coompartment. The design makes sense, but since we never use the packs separately we cut off the internal backing.
One of, if not, the most comfortable photo pack we've skied with and even though the price is a bit steep, it's well constructed and will last for quite a few seasons.
