Rock band, Nickelback, one of the biggest sellers of this Millennium, will open the 2013/14 ski season in the high energy Austrian ski resort of Ischgl.

This announcement comes with four weeks still to go of the current ski season, which will be closed with a concert by British rock band Deep Purple on Tuesday, April 30.

Previous headline acts at Ischgl's Top of the Mountain have included a stream of big name acts – most recently Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Lionel Richie and The Scorpions.

Ischgl Tourist Director Andreas Steibl said, “The opening of the winter season in Ischgl has become legendary for its world-class entertainment and top quality winter sport conditions. Skiing in the Silvretta Arena by day and live concerts featuring top international acts in the evening. And best of all is that admission to the open-air concerts is free with a valid skipass!”

The 2013/14 ski season opens in Ischgl on Thursday 28 November and will run through to the beginning of May 2014.
