It’s been a bumper week of snowfall for the Alps, and it’s still falling!

The heavy snow began on Wednesday in Austria then moved in over France on Thursday and Friday. The biggest dumps of the week were reported at big-name ski resorts such as Courchevel (80cm), Avoriaz (80cm) and Morzine (75cm). Snow was also reported in Italy and Switzerland.

Thursday and Friday (Jan. 29-30) marked 48 hours of non-stop powder for many resorts, particularly in the Northern French Alps. Over those 2 days we saw 80cm in Courchevel and Avoriaz, 78cm in Alpe d'huez, 75cm in Morzine, 70cm in Les Gets, 60cm in Les 2 Alpes ,Val Thorens and La Rosiere 1850, 55cm in Tignes and Val d'Isere, and 50cm in Megeve. Excellent skiing conditions can be found at Avoriaz (180-230cm), Val Thorens (140-190cm), Les Arcs (115-165cm), Alpe d'Huez (112-160cm), La Plagne (105-150cm), Chamonix (50-180cm), and Val d'Isere & Tignes (95-165cm). See all current snow conditions at French ski resorts.

3-day France snow forecast: More than a metre of snow is expected for French Pyrenees resorts over the next few days. But there's also yet more powder winging its way to the French Alps would you believe? It's been a great week for Austrian resorts too where it's been snowing on and off all week, with the heaviest dumps reported on Wednesday. Over the last 7 days: 120cm in Innsbrucker Nordketten bahnen, 95cm in Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang, 90cm in Obertauern, 80cm in Lech Zuers, 70cm in St. Anton. Snow is particularly deep on the glaciers where bases are nearing 300cm. Some of the best top-to-bottom skiing can be found at Lech-Zuers (105-165cm), St. Anton (60-225cm)and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl (58-185cm). See all current snow conditions at Austrian ski resorts.

Substantial snow dumps were also reported in Italy this week, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday, although not as widespread as in France: 75cm in Courmayeur, 45cm in Cervinia-Breuil and La Thuile, 30cm in Sestriere, Bardonecchia, Sauze d'Oulx, Claviere and Pila, and 20cm in Val Gardena. The last few days have brought lots of snow to Switzerland too. Over the last 3 days, we 've seen 120cm in Riffenmatt, 60cm in Crans Montana, Champery, 45cm in Melchsee-Frutt, and 40cm in Verbier and Elm. See full Switzerland snow report here.

3-day Switzerland Snow forecast: Some light-to-moderate snow is forecast over the next few days: 27cm for Gstaad Mountain Rides, 26cm for Adelboden and Crans Montana, and 24cm for Murren, Grindelwald, Villars-Gryon and Anzere. See full Switzerland snow forecast here. 

ANDORRA: No new snow has fallen this week and conditions are hard-packed, but some light snow is expected over the next 3 days: 13cm for Grandvalira and 9cm for Vallnord/Arcalis and Vallnord/Pal-Arinsal. 

BULGARIA: Some light snow fell across Bulgarian resorts on Wednesday, helping to freshen slopes. Good piste conditions are widespread. But the great news is there's massive snowfall on the way over the next 3 days: 76cm for Bansko and 43cm for Borovets.
