It’s been a week of changeable weather across Europe with some snow, sunshine and even rain at lower altitudes. Up to 80cm of snow has been recorded this week, with the heaviest dumps in Italy and the Pyrenees. The snow clouds are returning this weekend, with around half a metre of snow expected for French, Austrian and Swiss ski resorts and up to 40cm for Italy. So all in all, snow conditions are looking pretty promising for the Easter holidays.

FRANCE: Over the last 7 days the French Pyrenees have seen some substantial snow dumps with 50cm in Cauterets, 30cm in Piau Engaly, and 25cm in Gourette, Peyragudes and Ax 3 Domaines. The French Alps has also seen snow this week with 20cm in Tignes and Montgenevre, 15cm in Chamonix, Isola 2000, La Grave, La Rosiere 1850, and 10cm in La Plagne, Serre Chevalier, Megeve, La Tania, and Val Thorens. ITALY: Italian ski resorts have seen the biggest snowfalls this week with a total of 80cm in Limone Piemonte, 50cm in Artesina-Mondole ski, 40cm in Ghiacciaio Presena, 30cm in Pila and Argentera, 20cm in Cervinia-Breuil, Arabba Marmolada, Val Gardena, and 15cm in Courmayeur and Alta Badia. ANDORRA: Snow conditions are great in Andorra with some late March powder at higher ground. Snow depths are very good at all resorts: Grandvalira (140-210cm), Vallnord/Pal-Arinsal (160-185cm), Vallnord/Arcalis (180-285cm). Just a sprinkling of snow is expected over the weekend with 2cm for all resorts to keep the slopes fresh.

BULGARIA: Snow bases are good in Bulgaria after the big snowfalls of early March: Borovets (200-310cm), Bansko (70-250cm), and Pamporovo (25-35cm). Some light snow is in the forecast over the weekend with 7cm for Borovets, 6cm for Bansko and 3cm for Pamporovo.
