Still Deeper At Silverton

The base at Silverton is now 110" deep making it the second largest storm on record. The base at Silverton Mountain typically reaches 100 inches in February. It's an early holiday gift for those diehard, steep and deep skiers and boarders. Silverton Mountain is known for having the Expert Only terrain with tight chutes and ski-movie-jumping cliffs. Usually the chutes aren't skiable until late in the season, but they're ready now. Silverton is open the weekend of December 15-16. After that, Silverton is open Fridays through Sundays through the rest of December. The mountain is open Thursdays through Sundays in January. People can ski with or without a guide until Jan. 13. Silverton opens for guided-only skiing on Jan. 17. Unguided lift tickets are $49. It's $99 to ski with a guide in December. Here's how to find the place: Drive through the town of Silverton. At the end of town (at the park), take a left onto Highway 110, which is a dirt road. Always stay to the left for about 6.65 miles. Four-wheel drive is recommended.
