The Karwendel ski area above the Austrian village of Weerberg is promoting an exceptional deal for families this winter. Children under the age of 12 will receive free ski school lessons, free lift passes, and free ski equipment.
In addition, the resort's Winter Silver Card invites all resort guests to join in a free weekly programme, including snowshoeing, ice skating, skittle night, and a descent of the toboggan run in Weerberg. Most of these activities are offered at 10 a.m daily.
Children must be at least four years old to take part and the free skiing courses take place on specific dates in 2009 and 2010. The first run over Christmas week commencing Dec. 19 to Dec.26. The courses then run weekly after New Year's week, commencing Jan 2. and continuing through to April 10 except for the half-term week (Feb. 13-20, 2010)
Weerberg runs a very family-friendly ski area with lovely views of the local Karwendel mountains. Drag lifts serve the well groomed pistes. Queues are rare, ticket prices low, and there's a free ski bus.
The centre also has 15 kilometres of cross country ski runs, a ski and snowboard school, and a family skiing area served by the Schwannerlift.
