Some smaller resorts scattered across Colorado want you to give them a try. Their claim is they are family friendly, more accessible, and less expensive. They are known as the Colorado Gems. The nine resorts are Arapahoe Basin, Eldora, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, Ski Cooper, SolVista, Sunlight, and Echo Mountain.
Colorado Ski Country USA offers a Colorado Gems Card for $10. The Gems Card offers deals, discounts and, in some cases, free lift tickets at some resorts. Ski Cooper outside of Leadville is an example. The Gems Card gives you one free weekday lift ticket in February, except for the holiday mid-month. The deal is similar at SolVista Basin where you get one free lift ticket in January, except during the holiday weekends. Monarch offers one free lift ticket in April. Other resorts offer discounts on adult and child lift tickets as well as two-for-one specials.
"Colorado's Gems resorts are unique Colorado treasures, each with their own character and feel," explains Melanie Mills, president and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA. "The Gems Card gets cardholders free skiing at four of these resorts and hundreds of dollars of value at the others. And at $10, the Gems Card puts world-class Colorado skiing within reach for thousands of skiers in Colorado and elsewhere."
The Gems Card is non-transferable and you may have to show your I.D. at the ticket window to use it. A limited number of Gems Cards are available so inquire soon.
