Twin City skiers and riders embraced last year's big Ski & Snowboard Expo, after a few years without a ski and snowboard show to kick off the season.
The second annual Ski & Snowboard Expo returns to the Minneapolis Convention Center, Nov. 6-8, with its , which promises to be even bigger than last year's event.
This year's Expo will focus on Olympic glory with former and current Olympians. In attendance will be: Donna Weinbrecht, three-time Olympian and winner of 46 World Cup mogul skiing events; Ryan St. Onge, U.S. Ski Team member and favored to win the freestyle aerials at the 2010 Winter Olympics, currently ranked second in the world; Trace Worthington, two-time Olympian and winner of 37 World Cup freestyle skiing events; and Doug Lewis, two-time Olympian and World Championships bronze medalist downhiller. That's quite an impressive lineup and one worth coming out to meet.
Entertaining the crowd over the three days will be: the Flying Aces, an aerial trampoline show featuring St. Onge, Worthington, and others; the Olympic Theater, with Weinbrecht and featuring videos of Olympic highlights; the Action Sports Zone, featuring the Lair Demo Team with skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bikers performing on a large street course; and the EliTEAM Training Challenge interactive fun area for kids hosted by Lewis where they play and challenge themselves on an obstacle course and various skills drills.
Local, regional and Western ski resorts will be offering Expo-only specials on season passes, instructional programs, and vacation packages. Hoigaards's, again the exclusive retailer for the Expo, will be offering pre-season sales on equipment and apparel with discounts of up to 70-percent.
Tickets are $12 and children 12 and under are free. Included with your show admission is a free lift ticket to one of five sponsoring ski areas and a one-year subscription to a national snowsports magazine of your choice. The lift ticket is a random drawing from Afton Alps, Lutsen, Wild Mountain, Welch Village, and Hyland Sports Park.
