The Magic Card at Magic Mountain in Londonderry, Vt., gives holders $25 midweek lift tickets and $10 off weekend and holiday lift tickets all season.
Magic has continued work on its snowmaking, refurbishing water lines, and increasing capacity. The lower snowmaking pump has been overhauled.
The Londonderry area also has worked on its terrain. Crews have thinned glades across the mountain, affording opportunity for adventurous skiers to leave the trails for the woods.
Magic also will have Goniff's Den Bar up and running for après ski eats.
Crews have been running through a list of preseason chores that include lift inspections, mountain mowing and brush cutting. Snowmaking starts at the beginning of December.
Magic has a summit elevation of 2,850 feet with a vertical drop of 1,700 feet, 40 trails on 135 skiable acres, two surface lifts and two chairs. The longest run is Wizard, at 1.6 miles in length. Snowmaking covers 70 percent of the area's terrain.
Magic's motto is "Ski it if you dare." The area has long been a local favorite, with traditional New England terrain of steep, narrow trails following the fall line downhill. That motto is not to be confused with that of Mad River Glen, up north, where the slogan is "Ski it if you can."
