Timberline Lodge is a special place with an amazing historic lodge featured in The Shining movie back in the early 80s. The terrain is very rolling and beginner and intermediate centric. There are limited black runs and unless you are comfortable going out of bounds very limited advanced terrain. If you are looking for steep and deep I would recommend Mt Hood Meadows! But spring season is amazing at Timberline as all other mountains are closing Timberline is awesome for parks and really long runs!

This resort is really fun when you stay at the historic lodge because you can walk out and be first at the lift so easily. The lodge is amazing and they just remodeled the outdoor hot tub and pool open all year. With your lift ticket you get a tremendous deal on the lunch buffet in the lodge ($20 or so). They give you slippers and a storage place for your boots while you dine. If you are really lucky you can catch the free snowcat to the very top. When the weather cooperates the views are spectacular.

Amazing high alpine experience with the Timberline Lodge on the shoulder of Mt Hood. Parking is at mid mountain so you'll need to have snow tires or chains. Other option is to catch the bus up from Summit Pass. This a better option on weekends anyhow because the parking lot up top will be full before the lifts open.
Best Mt Hood resort to bring your family because of friendly staff, chill skiers and boarders and fun, long easy runs. Lunch cabin has nice outdoor picnic area to eat your bag lunch or splurge on local food.
This is not the place to go for steep and deep. People will point and laugh at you if your skiing aggressively here. This is a fun, family,friends, laughing and playing kinda resort. You will find fun terrain here, it just won't be extreme. When Palmer is open you will get your fill of black diamond runs. Going from the top of Palmer to Summit Pass is fantastic long last run to the car.

A most excellent resort for spring and summer skiing. Palmer Snowfields can't be beaten for June/July fun. Spouse and I go every year. On a clear day you can see forever. God's Country!

Good long runs, high vertical especially the Alpine (intermediate) from the top of Magic Mile lift all the way to the bottom at Summit Pass. If the sky is clear, and the cloud deck is high enough when they open Magic Mile lift, and even better if you’re an expert, Palmer lift, you’ve got a lot to keep you busy. Fast lifts, huge main lodge, priced good, especially the Cyber Monday 3for1 mid-week special. You can park at the bottom at the relatively new Summit Pass, which has one left and several runs for a beginner/intermediate. It was really nice and silky after a fresh snow on this lower portion. You can park here and take the shuttle up to the top (you can ski all the way down to here but have to shuttle back up if you park up there) or drive the 5mi/20min up the road and park up there.
CON: Need chains to drive the mountain (Oregon doesn’t salt/chain laws), but if you’re from Minnesota or a snow state, like I am, you can probably drive it just fine, but be aware (the rental car companies wash their hands of it)

Parking in salmon lot is the way to go. Awesome tree runs but stay in bounds or you could find yourself hiking

This was our local hill when we lived in Oregon. Now I telemark ski there when we visit our kids and grandkids in Oregon. It's a great antidote to the "industrial" resorts like Breck, Big Sky, etc. Relaxed vibe, family friendly. When the sky is clear, fantastic views down the Cascade range. Long, long season. Gorgeous, historic main lodge with fantastic food in the main dining room. Great ski/ride school. Keep a close eye on the weather, and the snow level: it's not much fun when its raining, or the snow is wet.

Skied Timberline for many years (I'm a telemarker). The old lodge is historic and beautiful. New lodge has decent services. Runs are fun and the vibe is relatively relaxed (way more so than big time resorts in most states). Views down the Cascades can be wonderful.

As others have mentioned, Timberline Lodge is not the place you're going to find steep vertical and challenging terrain like you'd expect from a west coast ski resort. But what it does have are the reasons I love it. Little to no lift lines, fun runs, chill vibe, and a unique apres-ski experience with Timberline Lodge. It's no 5-star hotel, but Timberline Lodge is a really unique experience, and on a sunny day, has epic views of Mt. Hood.
