I was impressed with Mt. Orford. I went for a day on a Friday. Not very crowded. Main chair and gondola worked well. The hills were very challenging, many with moguls, although some of the steeper slopes were a little icy. I enjoy glades skiing but some of the hills were closed, although given the amount of snow this year I am not sure why. The mountain itself is very high for Quebec standards with a good vertical drop, just a little less than Tremblant. This is a true mountain for skiers, as opposed to ski tourists like Tremblant. It is far superior in terms of challenging hills to Mt. St. Sauveur or (shudder) Blue Mountain in Ontario. My biggest complaint: lack of vegetarian and healthy options in cafeteria but on the other hand, it does have a great cafe with espresso, cappuccino etc. I would definitely go to Orford again

I have been here twice and the terrain is pretty nice. For those in the east that crave some cliff dropping they have some of it here. A few decent but short glades, but decently long runs. I like how the mountain is situated so that when the winds do pick up, you can choose another mountain to ride to avoid them. The top of the mountain is often in the clouds and snowy so powder is common. At the top they have a cafe in a yurt (a warm tent buried in snow). The views to the south are beautiful on a clear day and you can see 4 or so other ski hills from the 4km run.
Gondola / High Speed Six Hybrid lift, friendly staff, food ok, 3 mountains
NW winds at top make it icy

I enjoyed skiing Orford. Definitely worth the drive past Bromont. There are no line ups during the week, and the gondola move things along nicely on the weekends. The grand coulee is a fun run with great views. The smaller mountain Derochers is a nice easy/intermediate area that usually has the best snow and few people. It was pretty icy at times and can get very windy. Resonable prices and cheap membership. Good chalet with friendly bar, some good tunes playing sometimes. Magog and Orford have some nice shops, pubs, and restaurants. Nice place to stay if you're spending some time in the Townships.
