Glenshee is maybe not the best known of Scotland’s five ski areas, but it is the largest in terms of the number of lifts and runs. Being a bit more realistic a lot of those lifts are pretty past it, elderly things from a by-gone era when the place got a lot more skier visits each winter.
The centre has changed owners a few times over the past few years, not surprising that it’s hard for it to stay in business with the variable snow conditions which are a big issue here like in all Scottish ski areas. When we visited conditions were great – much better than the previous season, and as a result the centre was swamped and they were having to turn people away from the car parks.
One of the best things to look out for is the manager’s dog which runs up and grabs on to the lifts with its teeth and gets carried up the slope.
