Ski 93 Ski Resorts FAQ

Ski 93: An Interstate Through Ski Country -

Let’s divide this group of ski areas into those close to I-93 and those a little farther out, but still within striking distance of the main north-south interstate through New Hampshire.

Clustered in central New Hampshire are Gunstock in Gilford, overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee; Mount Sunapee in Newbury; Ragged Mountain in Danbury; Dartmouth Skiway in Hanover, and Tenney Mountain in Plymouth. All are within a half hour or so of I-93.

Farther north, larger areas lie even closer to the I-93 corridor, including Waterville Valley, in the town of the same name; Loon Mountain in Lincoln; Cannon Mountain in Franconia; and Bretton Woods at the Mount Washington Resort.

Push on north and east through Crawford Notch toward the Mount Washington Valley to find Attitash in Bartlett; historic Cranmore in North Conway; Black Mountain in Jackson; and Wildcat in Pinkham Notch.

Take a detour off I-93 and head east to King Pine at Purity Spring Resort in East Madison, one of the loveliest family areas around.

Don’t forget cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Jackson Ski Touring Foundation in Jackson has a trail system widely acknowledged to be one of the finest in the world.

The Mount Washington Resort and Waterville Valley also focus on Nordic skiing.

Larger areas offer many lodging choices, but among the attractions of New England are the many B&Bs that offer overnight accommodations and, often, lift ticket deals.
